COVID-19: Discretionary Business support - UPDATE

The discretionary "Business Support Fund" has been re-opened for a brief period by Stirling Council. It is designed to provide support for small and micro businesses (fifty employees or fewer) that have been unable to obtain support since October last year. This second application opportunity is there for businesses that did not apply during the first round (from 18th January to 3rd February). The following designations are eligible:
- Limited Company (including Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisations and social enterprises)
- Sole Traders
- Trusts
- Partnerships
- Community Interest Companies
- Freelancers
- Self-employed individuals
- Sub-contractors

COVID-19: Community support

SSEN has announced the launch of a £280,000 fund to build local resilience and protect vulnerable community members. The 2021 round of the Resilient Communities Fund will open on Tuesday 6th April, with £280,000 available for non-profit making organisations, community groups and charities working to protect and enhance the resilience of those most vulnerable in the north of Scotland. COVID-19: Self-isolation Support Grant
This information was published on 13th October 2020 by Stirling Council.
This grant of £500 is for those who will face financial hardship due to being asked to self-isolate and will be targeted at people who are in receipt of Universal Credit or legacy benefits, with some discretion to make awards to others in financial hardship. It will be delivered through the existing Scottish Welfare Fund, which is administered by local authorities. For further details, follow the link below to the Scottish government website.

COVID-19: Bed & Breakfast Hardship Fund

This fund is to offer hardship relief to businesses that provide Bed & Breakfast and other "Small Serviced Accommodation" but don't have a business bank account and have not been able to access support through other schemes. Applications for this fund opened on Monday 15th June 2020. Successful applicants will receive a one-off payment of £3,000. COVID-19: Funding for organisations during Covid-19 crisis
Update published on 15th April 2020 by Stirling Council regarding grants from Scottish Government.
The Scottish Government has changed its position on awarding grants to businesses in Scotland. Businesses are now able to claim per property rather than receiving a single grant of £25,000 for the whole business.
This will see £25,000 given to the first business property, with subsequent premises given seventy-five per cent (75%) of that. This now brings the position in Scotland more closely into line with that operating in the rest of the United Kingdom. For further information, click on the button below.

Persimmon Homes is keenly aware that the charity sector is experiencing particular hardship during these difficult times as local communities take action to contain the outbreak of Covid-19. Two amazing charity schemes operated by Persimmon will see millions of pounds handed out to groups supporting, specifically, the under-18s and people aged over seventy.
Building Futures
Persimmon's Charitable Foundation has this week committed to relaunching its "Building Futures" scheme for 2020. As part of its sponsorship of Team GB, Persimmon will donate more than £1 million to support children in sport, health and education. We are calling on local groups that support children within your area to apply. It can all be done online remotely via the link below.
Community Champions
Persimmon's Community Champions initiative has run since 2015 and gives away £64,000 every month in single donations up to the value of £1,000. So far over £3.5 million has been donated in the UK. Persimmon has decided that, from April 2020, all funding will go directly to groups supporting the over 70s. For further details click on the link below.

Various funds have been announced recently to help organisations deal with the impact of coronavirus on services:
Third Sector Resilience Fund - a £20m emergency fund for charities, community groups, social enterprises and voluntary organisations which find themselves in financial difficulties directly as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
Community Response, Recovery & Resilience Fund - the National Emergencies Trust has set up a Coronavirus Appeal to raise funds for local charities and grassroots organisations that can provide vital support - funds for Scottish organisations will be distributed by Foundation Scotland.
Creative Scotland - three funding programmes have been launched to help provide further support to sustain the country’s creative community impacted by coronavirus.
Charities Aid Foundation Coronavirus Emergency Fund - grants of up to £10,000 to help smaller organisations to continue to deliver much-needed support.
