This item contains some useful links for residents to use when seeking information about Stirling Council services during adverse weather conditions.

Snow and ice

During icy weather or when snow has fallen, gritting teams will treat priority routes in urban and rural Stirling, continuously - night and day - for as long as the conditions persist. Conditions will be constantly monitored and teams will be ready to respond to emerging situations. Please note that grit salt only begins to become effective as vehicles drive over it, activating it. This means that roads may remain hazardous at times of low or slow-moving traffic. Many roads, footways and cycle-paths may remain dangerous due to ice, so please take care when travelling, especially on untreated surfaces. We advise all residents to check the latest weather forecast and travel reports before setting off.

In the event of heavy snowfall, gritters will focus on keeping priority one routes clear. However, ploughing takes longer than gritting alone and it can take longer for roads to become clear. Full information about gritting routes and salt bin locations is available on the council website by clicking on the button below.

Waste collections

If you have a bin due to be collected that cannot be emptied due to the weather conditions, please continue to leave it out and we will aim to collect it as soon as possible.

Schools

In the event that schools are required to close or school buses are disrupted due to the weather, families will be contacted directly by their child’s school to confirm arrangements.
